Alcadia ‘Callita” Barrera, 87, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 06, 2024, in Ft. Lupton, Colorado. Callitia was born in Eagle Pass Texas on January 12, 1937, to Isidro and Maria Vasquez, where she was welcomed by her older brother Juan and sister Constancia. Soon after, she would become a big sister to Rodolfo and Francisco (twins); Elena; Gloria; Juana; and Eva and Irene Vasquez (twins). On January 3, 1960, she married her husband Gilberto Barrera Sr. The twin legacy would continue as they welcomed their sons Roberto (Esperanza) and Gilberto (DIana) Barrera. Hector and Rodolfo (Araceli), not quite twins, but 11 months apart soon followed and then of course her surprise son Juanio was the last of the BARRERA sons! Callita enjoyed telling stories, taking care of her chickens, cats and her doggy “Beauty”, who never left her side. She loved loteria, bingo nights and of course a casino in Black Hawk, CO. Not to mention, she was a sweet grandma and great grandma.
Callita was welcomed into heaven by her husband Gilberto “Beto” Barrera Sr. and grandson Gilberto “Gordo” Barrera III. Just like on earth, she was welcomed in heaven by her parents Isidro and Maria Vasquez and older brother Juan Vasquez, sister Constancia.
Her pure heart and gentle soul will greatly be missed by her countless family and friends.
